Use simple cotton face covers for everyday use. They let you breathe easy and don't make you feel suffocated. You can also make them home, using a small scarf or handkerchief. There are many videos on how to make a simple face mask at home.
However, if you are in a place where you might be exposed to potential infection carriers, use the N95 mask that provides greater degree of protection.
I have been making masks at home and have tried and tested a few different types of fabric. In my opinion, 100% cotton fabric masks are the best for breathing. If you are located in USA, you can buy readymade cotton masks at Joann Fabric Store. I don't know what fabric masks other stores are selling. If you decide to make your own masks, you can look for cotton fabric used for quilting. A friend of mine recently made a mask, where she used quilting cotton fabric for outer layer and muslin fabric for inner layer.
